Peripheral neuropathy में peripheral nerves प्रभावित होती हैं।

Symptoms हो सकते हैं:

• tingling
• burning
• numbness
• electric-shock pain
• touch से pain
• balance difficulty
• weakness

अक्सर symptoms feet से शुरू होते हैं।

Causes कई हो सकते हैं

Examples:

• diabetes
• vitamin deficiency
• alcohol-related disease
• kidney disease
• thyroid problems
• कुछ medicines
• autoimmune disease
• hereditary neuropathies

हर tingling = vitamin B12 deficiency नहीं है।

Foot care क्यों महत्वपूर्ण है?

यदि sensation कम है, patient को:

• चोट
• blister
• burn
• shoe bite

का पता देर से चल सकता है।

विशेष रूप से diabetes में foot care महत्वपूर्ण है।

Daily Foot Check

रोज देखें:

• cuts
• redness
• blister
• swelling
• infection
• shoe-related injury

Safety

• barefoot न चलें यदि sensation कम है
• पानी बहुत गर्म है या नहीं, numb foot से test न करें
• comfortable footwear पहनें
• nails सावधानी से काटें
• wounds को ignore न करें

कब जल्दी doctor को दिखाएँ?

• rapidly worsening weakness
• नया walking difficulty
• bladder/bowel dysfunction
• breathing problem
• rapidly ascending numbness/weakness

इन situations में urgent neurological assessment की आवश्यकता हो सकती है।

क्या हर Neuropathy में NCS/EMG जरूरी है?

नहीं।

Investigation history, examination और suspected cause पर depend करती है।
