Multiple Sclerosis (MS) क्या है?

Multiple Sclerosis एक immune-mediated neurological disease है जिसमें central nervous system—brain, spinal cord और optic nerves—प्रभावित हो सकते हैं।

Symptoms अलग-अलग हो सकते हैं

• vision problems
• numbness
• weakness
• imbalance
• bladder symptoms
• fatigue
• double vision
• stiffness
• sensory symptoms

हर patient का pattern समान नहीं होता।

क्या हर White Spot MS है?

नहीं।

MRI पर white-matter lesions कई दूसरी situations में भी मिल सकते हैं।

MS diagnosis केवल MRI report पढ़कर नहीं किया जाना चाहिए।

Clinical history, examination और characteristic evidence of lesions in time/space महत्वपूर्ण होते हैं।

Relapse क्या होता है?

MS relapse में नया neurological symptom या पुराने symptom का significant worsening होता है जो inflammatory disease activity से जुड़ा हो सकता है।

लेकिन fever, infection, heat या severe fatigue से पुराने symptoms temporarily worsen भी हो सकते हैं—इसे true relapse से अलग करना पड़ता है।

क्या MS का Treatment है?

हाँ।

Disease-modifying therapies relapse और future disease activity कम करने के लिए उपलब्ध हैं।

Choice depend करती है:

• disease pattern
• activity
• safety profile
• pregnancy plans
• comorbidities
• monitoring requirements

Treatment जल्दी क्यों?

Untreated inflammatory activity permanent neurological damage में योगदान कर सकती है।

लेकिन “सबसे strong medicine हर patient के लिए best” भी सही नहीं।

Risk-benefit individualized होता है।

याद रखें

MS एक long-term manageable neurological disease है—not automatically disability. अचानक नई कमजोरी, speech difficulty, vision loss या बहुत कम होश में तुरंत emergency assessment लें। इसे MS relapse मानकर किसी duration threshold पूरा होने का इंतजार न करें।
